YOU COMPLETED ALL SIX WEEKS - WHAT NOW?
First off congrats! Whether this was your very first online program or your 100th, starting and completing something is always worth a mental pat on the back. Good work! Hopefully, you’re excited to continue your journey from here.
Taking a rest week
After six weeks of training - an active rest week is in order. Active rest is an important part of any fitness journey. It gives your body and mind time to repair after being faced with new challenges. So what do you do during your active rest week? Here are some ideas!
If you’ve been working out at a consistent time - keep that on your schedule!
Instead of your typical workouts take this week to try something new!
Yoga
Walking
Mobility
Dance
These are just a few ideas. Fill your workout slot with any kind of movement that feels good to you! Just remember to keep it light and not too strenuous.
After your rest week
It’s time to jump back into workouts! Despite its name, BUILD 1 was actually designed to be repeatable. And I highly recommend repeating this program at least twice in a row. While it may not seem as exciting at first, sticking to the same movement patterns for 12 weeks or longer, slowly adding difficulty over time, is shown to be very effective in our bodies. It’s beneficial mentally as well as you really get to see and feel your progress as you repeat the program a second time. It feels good to get stronger and more confident in our bodies!
How to restart your program
If you are ready to dive into round two of BUILD 1 all you have to do is take your weight from Week 5 or 6 and place it in Week 1. This is your new starting weight. I say Week 5 or 6 to give a little wiggle room if you perhaps over or undershot your weight jumps. Don’t worry, as you continue to work out estimating these kinds of adjustments will become more natural.
